What Gasket should I Use?
If you have multiple harmonicas in the standard "Marine Band" shape and want to switch them in and out quickly without changing gaskets, the Standard-Gasket is a solid option.
For those looking to maximize performance, the Pro-Gasket offers a tighter seal, richer tone, and enhanced feedback protection—perfect if you primarily use one harmonica model or can carry a few extra gaskets.

What output jack should I order? 1/4inch or 1/8th?
The Dyna-Mic comes standard with a 1/4-inch mono jack that accepts all regular guitar cables.
For added security and a sleeker look—especially useful for rack playing—you can upgrade to a 1/8-inch locking jack and custom cable.
Is my Dyna-Mic covered by a warranty?
Yes, all Dyna-Mics come with a two year warranty that covers defects in materials and workmanship.
How should I hold my Dyna-Mic?
The Dyna-Mic is designed to be held just like an acoustic harmonica, naturally extending the feel of your instrument.
Since your hands aren’t needed to shape the tone, you can hold it in a more relaxed and comfortable manner, just as you would with your harmonica.
How does the Nighthawks' IR hand sensor work?
The infrared (IR) sensor detects the proximity of your hand to the microphone. When your hand is close, the tone will be darker; moving your hand away will brighten the tone. Adjust your hand position to shape the sound as desired.
The effect is created by an analogue filter with a frequency range that is modeled after an acoustic "hand wah". This gives a more natural tone and greater expression than ever before.
*Note: If there is too much external IR interference the tone will sound dark regardless of where your hand is, thus we suggest turning the IR sensor off under direct sunlight or fluorescent lighting with high infrared levels.
Is the Nighthawk suitable for live performances?
Absolutely! The IR sensor works well under modern LED stage lighting. The Nighthawk is designed for both live and studio settings, offering robust performance in any environment.
Can I use the Nighthawk with harmonica rack?
Yes, the Dyna-Mic Nighthawk is designed to fit most commercially available harmonica racks, allowing you to use it hands-free and enjoy its full range of features.
It features a built-in magnet for easy attachment to magnetic racks like the Seydel Gecko, and it can also be securely positioned between the clasps of spring-loaded racks such as the Hohner Flex Rack.
Can I use my Dyna-Mic with different types of amplifiers or audio systems?
Yes, the Dyna-Mic is versatile and works well with various amplifiers and audio systems. The built-in pre-amp is designed to provide high-quality sound whether you're using a DI box, a DAW interface, recording console or plugging directly into an amp.
How long does the rechargeable battery last?
After 12 hours of play, the red power LED will slowly flash, signaling a recommended recharge to maintain optimal performance and battery health. However, with a total battery life of up to 76 hours, you'll never have to worry about running out of power during a performance.
How do I charge it?
First, turn your Dyna-Mic off. Then connect the included cable to the Dyna-Mic's charging port and plug it into any power source. The LED will switch from red to green when fully charged, with a complete charge taking approximately 1 hour.
My Hohner Marine Band won't fit in the Standard Gasket, what do I do?
The Hohner Marine Band Deluxe, Thunderbird, and Crossover models have two screws on each side of the cover plates. To fit these harmonicas into a Standard-Gasket, you must remove the two rear screws. This procedure is standard and won’t affect your harmonica’s playability. Alternatively, you can use our Marine Band Series Pro-Gasket, which accommodates these models without needing to remove any screws.
Do your gaskets hold non magnetic harmonicas?
Yes, we have pro-gaskets designed to hold harmonicas with non magnetic cover plates.
